Senior Bookkeeper Full Time Job

Senior Bookkeeper position available in Paarl.

Our client in Paarl is seeking an experienced, energetic, and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to join their finance team.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of the bookkeeping function, is highly organised, and can work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Reporting directly to the Chief Accountant, you will be responsible for the full bookkeeping function across multiple companies, ensuring accurate financial records and supporting the finance department’s day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform debtors, creditors, bank, and balance sheet reconciliations across four companies.
• Complete intercompany reconciliations.
• Capture and process financial transactions in Sage.
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial information.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Prepare supplier payment schedules.
• Perform month-on-month and year-on-year financial comparisons.
• Prepare EMP201 and EMP501 submissions.
• Process payroll for approximately 100 employees across two companies using SimplePay.
• Manage inventory and packaging control for one company and provide support to another company.
• Generate and distribute daily customer invoices.
• Complete weekly and monthly reconciliations of payments and expenses.
• Assist with general bookkeeping and finance administration as required.

Minimum Requirements:

• Relevant Bookkeeping or Accounting qualification.
• 3–5 years’ experience in a Senior Bookkeeper or Bookkeeper to Trial Balance role.
• Proven experience working with Sage Accounting.
• Experience with SimplePay payroll software will be advantageous.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (an Excel assessment forms part of the recruitment process).
• Own reliable transport is essential.
• Fluent in Afrikaans (spoken and written).
