Legal Advisor position available in Cape Town.
Our client, a leading financial services company, is looking for an admitted attorney to join their Group Legal team as a Legal Advisor.
This in-house role requires strong commercial drafting experience and a background in financial services or asset management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and review commercial agreements, including distribution agreements, service level agreements, institutional client agreements (such as Portfolio Management Agreements), and third-party service provider agreements
- Provide legal input and opinions during contract negotiations
- Advise management, employees and clients on legal and regulatory matters
- Advise the Investment Team on corporate actions, Companies Act and Listings Requirements issues
- Assist with regulatory lobbying and commenting on draft legislation
- Advise on client mandates and permissible investments
- Support company secretarial and general legal department administration
Requirements:
- Law degree (LLB or equivalent) and a postgraduate law qualification, with completed articles
- Admitted attorney
- 3-5 years PQE practical legal experience
- Strong experience within financial services, ideally asset management
- Experience drafting financial services-related agreements
- Working knowledge of relevant financial services legislation
- Strong drafting, research and communication skills
- Well organised, deadline-driven, and able to work independently
