Junior Shipping Controller job vacancy in Cape Town.

A well-established Manufacturing Engineering company is looking for a Junior Shipping Controller to join their team on a full-time permanent basis in the Northern Suburbs, Cape Town.

Position Requirements:

• National Senior Certificate / Grade 12
• BCom Degree or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain or similar (Not Compulsory)
• Experience in a similar position
• Any admin, supply chain or logistics certificates (beneficial)
• Experience in Manufacturing environment (beneficial)
• Proficiency in both English and Afrikaans

Position Responsibilities:

• Planning Shipment and Distribution
  • Send shipping documentation (as per courier) to the client or the client’s bank
  • Responsible for the control of local loading schedule
  • Negotiating rates with transporting and courier companies
• Picking and Loading
  • Determine & control picking list according to loading demand, and shipment schedule
  • Prepare commercial invoice from the PF invoice to ensure compliance of the sales terms
  • Approve local commercial invoices
  • Handover all invoices, sales orders / pro forma’s before shipment to the department manager for authorization
  • Control and manage loading of all containers
  • Responsible for the correct handling of the container seal with relation to shipping, and approval thereof
  • Responsible for economical storage methods
  • Responsible for finished goods in terms of stock movement and storage
  • Administrate pallet reports and set packing lists accordingly
  • Liaise with production department with regards to Job Cards for orders
• Raw Material & Local Transport
  • Responsible for transportation of raw material from Mittal to TS
  • Responsible to book trucks for intercompany transportation of raw materials and ILAC coils between warehouses
  • Communicate and issue weekly requirements with transportation company
  • Request purchase orders for transportation from HOL
  • Email purchase orders and corresponding delivery notes to transport company
  • Compile tax invoices received from the transport company with corresponding purchase orders and delivery notes, stamp, sign off and take to finance department
  • Update “Transporters Trips per Month” Sheet
  • Source new transport companies
• Administration
  • Provide necessary documentation for SAISI concessions to Cost Clerk
  • Liaise with sales in regards to client documentation/special requirements
  • Liaise with suppliers in regards to collection of cargo
  • Check/approve all export related documentation from agents
  • Check/approve all courier / road transport invoices
  • Send/route commercial invoices to head of logistics for approval
  • Handle all courier requirements (as and when required)
  • Responsible for communicating and submitting all shipping documentation to clients directly,
    and CC the relevant sales executive
  • Responsible for coordinating all ETA’s, ETDs, and customs delays to clients directly, and CC the relevant sales executive
• Personnel (Forklifts)
  • Liaise with warehouse controller according to schedule
  • Monitor and control forklift drivers allocated to respective area
• International Warehouses
  • Full stock volumes and movements (management and control) of finished goods in all warehouses: (BV, Inc)
  • Record keeping and reporting on flow of inventory in international warehouses
  • Receipt and booking in of stock into WH Syspro and WH sheet
  • Receiving PFs from sales and arrange distribution (local freight)
  • Allocating / picking of stock / stock reservation
  • Prompt stock replenishment in accordance with stock policy
  • Receipt and booking in of stock into WH Syspro and WH sheet
  • Invoice once distributed / collected (before collection)
  • Issue reworks job cards for TSQD and TS Inc
• International Reworks
  • Responsible for receiving all Reworks documentation from warehouses
  • Responsible for capturing information on Excel spreadsheet
  • Ensure all reworks pallets are in correct warehouse on Syspro
  • Ensure correct quantity is in warehouse
  • Ensure Jobs are confirmed
  • Prepare import file
  • Job receipts
  • Capture ACR’s on pallets
  • Communicate all information to Sales Representative & Enterprise Planner
• General
• • Follow any reasonable instructions / requests from management and/or superior alike at all
    times
  • Ensure comprehension of entire SC function (international & local)
