Junior Copywriter / Proof Checker  required in Johannesburg.

Small agency. Big ideas. Mild chaos. Strong coffee. Our client – a small but gloriously busy creative agency is looking for a junior copywriter / proof checker who can write a snappy headline, spot a rogue apostrophe at 20 paces, and remain calm when a client changes “just one word” 14 times.

You’ll be the kind of person who loves language, notices when a sentence feels off, and gets a strange amount of satisfaction from turning messy copy into something sharp, clear, and actually readable.

Salary: R18 000 – R22 000 per month.

What you’ll do:

• Write and polish copy for things like social posts, websites, emails, brochures, captions, and whatever else lands in the inbox before lunch.
• Proofread with the focus of a detective and the suspicion of someone who trusts no typo.
• Check grammar, spelling, punctuation, tone, consistency, and whether the headline actually matches the body copy.
• Help keep client work clean, on-brand, and free from mysterious double spaces.
• Jump between projects, priorities, and occasional last-minute panic with good humour.
• Work with designers, account managers, and other creative humans who speak in deadlines and half-finished ideas.

What we’re looking for:

• Strong written English and a sharp eye for detail.
• A genuine interest in copywriting, editing, proofreading, and how words make people do things
• A good ear for tone – from playful and punchy to polished and professional.
• Comfortable taking feedback, making edits, and asking smart questions.

Bonus points if you have:

• A qualification in English, journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field.
• Previous internship, freelance, campus paper, or agency experience.
• An unhealthy enthusiasm for correct punctuation.
