Our client is a fast-growing fintech business operating in the employee financial wellness space. With its head office in Stellenbosch and a growing presence in Johannesburg, the business is looking for an experienced Client Relationship Manager to take ownership of a portfolio of employer clients.

This is a relationship-led role with a strong commercial focus. You will be responsible for keeping clients engaged, increasing employee adoption, growing account value and ensuring each relationship continues to deliver measurable results.

You will work closely with HR, payroll, finance and senior decision-makers, becoming the person clients trust to understand their business, resolve issues and identify opportunities for further growth.

Area: Sandton, Johannesburg.

Salary: R50,000 per month.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage a defined portfolio of employer clients as their primary point of contact.
• Build strong relationships across HR, payroll, finance and executive stakeholders.
• Develop a detailed understanding of each client’s business, workforce and payroll environment.
• Maintain regular client engagement through meetings, site visits, reviews and structured follow-ups.
• Take ownership of escalations and coordinate internal teams to ensure issues are resolved properly.
• Support the onboarding and handover of new clients.
• Prepare and present monthly client performance reports covering registration, activation, utilisation and transaction activity.
• Conduct quarterly business reviews focused on performance trends, opportunities and agreed next steps.
• Lead strategic and annual account reviews covering value delivered, adoption, renewals and future growth.
• Turn client data into practical insight, explaining what has changed, why it matters and what action should follow.
• Drive employee engagement and activation initiatives in partnership with clients and internal marketing teams.
• Identify opportunities to increase adoption, introduce additional products and expand into new divisions or entities.
• Own portfolio growth and upsell targets.
• Support renewals and commercial discussions.
• Identify opportunities for referrals and client advocacy.
• Maintain accurate CRM records across client interactions, risks, opportunities, actions and renewal dates.
• Monitor account health and identify potential retention risks early.
• Work closely with operations, product, technology and finance to deliver on client commitments.
• Share client feedback and insights with the wider business to help improve the customer experience.

Requirements:

• 3 to 5 Years of experience in relationship management, account management, customer success or portfolio management within a B2B environment.
• Proven experience managing and growing an existing client portfolio.
• A track record of achieving upsell, cross-sell or account growth targets.
• Strong relationship-building skills with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders.
• Experience working with stakeholders across HR, payroll, finance or executive leadership would be valuable.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret client data and present clear findings.
• Advanced Excel skills and competent PowerPoint capability.
• Comfortable working with CRM systems as part of day-to-day account management.
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
• Strong organisation and the ability to manage multiple client relationships at once.
• A valid driver’s licence and reliable transport, as regular client visits form part of the position.
• A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent practical experience.

Experience within fintech, payments, payroll, HR technology, employee benefits or financial services would be highly advantageous. Exposure to South African payroll processes, earned wage access or financial wellness products would also be beneficial.
