South Africa’s leading distributor, guru and innovator of social expression products with a portfolio range from cards, stationery, gifting, party and wrap accessories across all seasons with three major brands: Creative Stationery, Carlton Cards and Entertainers, the store division of Cardies and continuous partnerships with key suppliers, the company has grown from strength to strength and as such they are now looking to hire a Product Manager for Carlton.

The vacancy is based in Aeroton so applicants living within close proximity to this area / region will be given preference.

Duties & Responsibilities of the Carlton Product Manager:

• As the Carlton Product Manager you will need to ensure product probability and success.
• You will continually monitor the products performance.
• Present and put forward product / design refreshment proposals for management approval.
• Preparation of presentations for new ranges.
• Continuously carry out and conduct trend and product research, identify new opportunities and competitive activity.
• Liaise with all relevant departments and suppliers to ensure deadlines are met.
• Administrative management of the portfolio.
• Master schedule: set up annually, updated on a weekly basis, to ensure that the production / importing deadlines are met, and that we do not run late on certain proceses.
• Daily schedules: Update daily schedules and used when meeting with the Marketing Manager to go over workload / priorities and what needs to be escalated up to management.
• Sourcing of and liaison with product suppliers (local and overseas): Constant updates on suppliers in terms of pricing and product changes and updates. Sample requests and updated product details and correct sample specs. Create import order and liaise with suppliers to ensure all detail on the order is correct.
• Market analysis: Regular and ongoing SWOT. Identification of opportunities for growth, existing and new product. Regular trade visits to assess the product, positioning, price in the trade, as well as competitor activity and price and opportunities that present themselves as a result of this.
• Pricing: Updating supplire prices, DC’s, shipping rates, latest landed costs and ROE’s. Ensure customer wholesale and retail prices are correct and up to date at the time of the price increase exercise. Completion of schedule in preparation for meeting with management to discuss and agree on increases.
• Trade shows and customer portfolio presentations: Participation in trade shows. Product/design selection and layout planning. Ensuring stock is ready and sent, preparation of required documentation, (briefs, pricing, order forms). Attendance at trade shows as determined by management.

Package & Remuneration:

• R22K CTC and 13th cheque.
• Provident fund at 60% of annual pensionable income.
