To provide full function support for Midrange software products and the related infrastructure. Responsible for providing Midrange support as per pre-determined SLA agreements. This entails all aspects of software administration, i.e. Installation, customization, problem determination and performance management.

Responsibilities:

• Installing and configuring hardware and software products to agreed infrastructure standards and providing required supporting documentation.
• Delivering Midrange infrastructure solutions to all clients.
• Manage and documents system events to ensure the integrity of the system.
• Upgrade system hardware and software components as required.
• Manage and maintain backups.
• Monitor and improve system performance through kernel and file system tuning.
• Trouble shoots to isolate and diagnose common system problems.
• Analyze, logs, tracks and resolve hardware/software matters pertaining to networking, connectivity issues, printers, servers and applications to meet business needs.
• Utilizes standard corporate tools to record change and problem activities for tracking purposes.
• Support the installation and testing of the necessary software and hardware.
• Research and implement security strategies.
• Act as a liaison with other departments, divisions and organizations.
• Serve as technical support for developers and users.
• Coordinates and determines method of installing client applications and systems.
• Researches and evaluate alternative solutions and recommends the most efficient and cost effective system solution for the business need.

Competencies:

• Be certified on a Unix O/S ..
• Need to have good working knowledge of Midrange (HP, IBM etc.) hardware.
