Description of role and responsibilities/ core competencies

The System Operator will report to the Data Centre Manager assisting in the delivery of department-wide operations initiatives.

Perform and provide oversight on backups, end of day procedures, batch runs, tape management and operations of IT systems supporting the “our Client” environment.

Responsible for the logging of incidents, work requests and problems within the ITIL framework.

Work shifts

iSeries certification (advantage)

Computer literacy (N+, MS Office, XP)

Windows security experience

Windows Server 2000 and 2003 experience

Linux / Unix experience

Tape Management experience

Procedural development

Data Centre experience

Problem solving methodology

Stringent adherence to Change Management

Experience and Qualifications

Experience

The system operator must have at least 3+ years experience in:

Tape Management experience
Data Centre experience
Problem solving methodology
Stringent adherence to Change Management
Preferable
- NetBackup experience
- Control-M experience
- Sun Solaris experience

Qualifications

ITIL foundation certification (plus)
Holds a professional operators qualification
