Our business is growing rapidly and we are looking to employ a Solutions Consultant in an account manager and technical pre-sales capacity to initiate, maintain and successfully capitalise on the sales relationships with new and existing clients. This position involves a high level of technical consultancy, design, project management and relationship and expectation management which requires the incumbent to converse effectively at C-level.
The successful candidate will be required to effectively sell Space Age and its services to clients ranging in complexity and size - from 50 to 200 user environments - and you will therefore have to be knowledgeable in all the components in the IT platform for single and multi-branch companies.
The Solutions Consultant’s involvement entails working closely with new and existing clients in scoping, specifying and aiding in the design of platform solutions and ensuring the clients’ business needs are successfully met by the technological solution.
The ideal person is an extrovert who enjoys solutions selling and a technology-junky who is able to deliver strategic value to the client and increase the role of IT as a business enabler.

- Act as the technical sales and pre-sales consultant and position Space Age as the preferred IT supplier that provides comprehensive IT solutions
- Manage and build positive customer relationships
- Generate proposals, quotations and reports for IT solutions
- Partake in scoping and aid in the design of IT solutions to ensure the client’s requirements are met
- Consult with clients in terms of IT expansions and IT budgets
- Manage the delivery aspect of technology implementation projects
- Work closely with various distributors and vendors to build mutually beneficial partnerships
- Follow through on appointments scheduled by the sales co-ordinator and capitalise on the opportunities available
Skills and personal attributes:
- A sound understanding of the local IT market including trends and opportunities
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Results oriented by nature and progressive in self-development (technical and sales skills) in order to add value to Space Age and its clients
- Competent in specifying and designing hardware solutions on mainstream hardware brands
- Excellent communication skills in all forms including written, oral, email, telephone and presentation
- Competent to articulate and communicate with CEO, CFO and CIO levels at mid-market organisations
- Previous experience in a technical sales role would be a distinct advantage
- Solid experience in Microsoft Licensing advantageous
- Full knowledge of the sales process (including procurement and vendor procedures)
- Good understanding of Network Auditing as well as Microsoft Best Practice Concepts
- Capable of hands-on problem solving with the ability to generate ideas and solutions
- Ability to use own initiative and pay close attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills and effective time management ability
- Self-reliant team player who is intrinsically motivated
