24/11 Senior Researcher in Security/Military Robotics – PTA. Key responsibilities The objective of this position is to assume science and technology leadership in the research, development and application of mobile robotics in security and military areas. This will be achieved through: ● Determining the strategic direction of the Plant Performance research group in alignment with the modelling and Digital Science strategy ● Ensuring group sustainability by securing new research and development opportunities ● Supporting other research initiatives within the competence area ● Ensuring delivery of milestones on all existing contracts on brief, on budget and on time ● Identifying trends in advanced mobile robots for military and security applications ● Developing new networks and research initiatives to participate in global consortia on cutting-edge research ● Keeping abreast of international developments in relevant areas ● Presenting R&D results to clients, at conferences and in journals Qualifications, skills and experience ● A minimum qualification of a PhD in Computer Science/ Mechanical Engineering/ Electrical Engineering/ Electronic Engineering/ Mechatronics Engineering ● A minimum of four to six years' research experience and a track record in the field of artificial intelligence/ robotics sensor technologies ● Exposure to the international environment or at least two years of post-doctoral experience ● Proficiency with various techniques for mobile robots such as swarming techniques, SLAM, distributed sensor fusion, adaptive biological system theory, etc. ● A demonstrated ability to conduct independent research (e.g. through publication track record) in a multidisciplinary, diverse team ● A broad understanding of the applications of mobile robots. .
