Main purpose of the job
To provide Wintel and Virtualisation Infrastructure (incl. Back-office applications) and application hardware, OS and associated software support to ensure optimal stability and high availability of these environments whilst adhering to SLA’s as per the company’s contractual obligations
Education and Experience required:
- Matric
- Relevant IT Qualification
- 5-7 years general IT experience including 3-5 years experience as a senior system engineer in the specialist role (Active Directory)
Skills and Competencies
- Server Hardware platforms and Systems management
- Good working knowledge of Networking
- Good working knowledge of Storage
- Knowledge of ITIL concepts
- Define operational documentation and processes
- Research and development within relevant field of expertise
- Installing, configuring and troubleshooting on operating systems on physical and virtual platforms
- Maintain and troubleshoot server hardware
- Manage and resolve incident and problem
- Installing and configuring BackOffice applications
- Standby support of infrastructure and application environments
- Good analytical and problem solving skills
- Both verbal and written communication skills

Key areas of responsibility:
- To perform day to day infrastructure and application administration tasks to support the clients ongoing requirements.
- To provide input into the architecture of the infrastructure and application environments.
- To monitor infrastructure and application components via management toolsets to proactively ensure service availability.
- To be a technical resource for projects and service requests.
- To participate in standby and implement after hour infrastructure and client application change slots.
- To implement technical operational standards.
