Pricing Manager

Main Purpose of the Job

The incumbent will be responsible to perform detailed, accurate, complex pricing (on all identified tenders and proposals) that is aligned to and supports the Business’s strategic objectives, limiting the company’s exposure to risk and ensures long-term profitability as well as the company’s competitive stance in the SA market.

 

Education and experience required:

  • BCom / BTech in Cost and Management Accounting – compulsory
  • A Management Accounting background, preferably in an IT environment (with an emphasis on costing and financial analysis) is recommended
  • Customer interface experience is recommended
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo a battery of psychometric testing

  • The ability to build and sustain relationships with key individuals on the basis of openness and trust. Recognition of the potential benefits of interacting with others to achieve more timely and effective results given their support. (Both internal and external)
  • Applies negotiating principles in practice, constructing win-win situations, even in situations with the potential for conflict.
  • Knows and understands local and international economic variables such as interest rates, exchange rates, inflation, etc. as well as their interaction with each other.
  • Knows and understands business, its key components and their inter-relationships.
  • MS Excel, MS Word and MS Project (experience in SAP R/3 will be an advantage)
  • The ability to express oneself in a clear and constructive, non-threatening manner.
  • The capability and willingness to regard the detail involved in a project, problem or situation as critical for success.

  • Ability to work under pressure
  • The ability and willingness to take decisions in a timely manner without hesitation and be fully accountable for it.

  • The ability to complete assigned tasks according to specifications. Deals with a fluctuating workload and still meets deadlines through dedication, tenacity and in spite of difficulties.

Key areas of responsibility

  • To ensure the company’s competitive stance in the SA market;
  • To perform detailed, accurate, complex and profitable pricing on deals timeously;
  • To assume a consultancy role to Sales, Service Management and Service delivery on matters relating to pricing and market positioning;
  • To proactively assist Sales and Service Delivery on Go-To-Market strategy development in accordance with overall company objectives;
  • To perform price benchmarks on a continuous basis based on feedback from previous proposals and competitors positions;
  • To continuously review and improve current pricing processes, tools and methodologies;
  • To ensure that the pricing is done based on the agreed and approved KPIs in line with strategy and approved budget;
  • To limit the company’s risk by ensuring that pricing is accurate and complete and that all necessary assumptions are documented;
  • To support the contracting team in the successful conclusion of contract negotiations;
  • To support the operational team with the successful handover and implementation of the business case.
