Edu/Skills/Exp:
- 3 yr General IT Degree or Diploma with Programming as a subject or 1 yr Microsoft Aligned Programming Diploma or MCDBA
- Must be able to create a database and write basic SQL Scripting
- Must have an analytical mind and be able to apply logical thinking to processes
- Needs to work well in a team
- Developers at all levels are expected to be proactive about communicating and giving feedback and information to the Development Managers, Project Managers and other relevant parties
- They must be able to give the feedback to the right person and should be forthcoming regarding circumstances and challenges they may face
Advantageous Exp:
- Experience in a database administrator role
- Experience working in a solution development company
- Experience working in a structured project environment
- Having a passion for the IT industry
- The ability to do self study
- Completion of a database management course
Duties:
- Must have the ability to work on their own and complete allocated tasks for 2 / 3 days autonomously
- Must have the ability to read and understand functional and technical specifications
- The focus for a Junior Developer is on becoming competent in terms of writing SQL scripting, thus the Junior Developer would be expected to spend some time practising writing SQL especially if he is not allocated to client work for a particular period of time. The reason for this exposure is to get the Developers to maximize query performance specifically on large volumes of data
- Must be able to successfully build SSIS packages and must also be able to optimize the performance of the SSIS packages
- Needs to improve on SSAS experience and must be able to build a basic cube
- Must have a basic understanding of OLAP and Analysis Services
- Must improve SSRS experience and must be able to build basic reports
- Needs to understand reporting in general and specifically how reporting services function
- Have a general understanding of database design, and the normalization of data structures
- Must have good Microsoft office skills
- Some collaboration with other developers is required from the Junior Developer but this is not the main focus of their role
- Must start to complete Microsoft certification exams (the Junior Developer should write two initial Microsoft exams to become a technical specialist)
