IT DIRECTOR:-

Our client based in Cape Town is currently looking for a IT Director to head up its group IT shared services function.

Qualifications & Experience:-

• Commercial or computer science degree or related qualification
• Minimum of 10 years experience in IT at a senior level
• Retail industry experience will be advantageous

Duties & Responsibilities:-

• Develop a group wide IT strategy and obtain commitment from individual operating companies as well as the IT team
• Ensure the IT strategy and the implementation thereof are responsive and aligned to the group's strategic and growth objectives
• Lead the IT team to ensure development and delivery of customised (mostly self developed) business applications (including service management strategy and delivery) IT, infrastructure and data services
• Be close to key decisions regarding architecture and technology selection and in leading strategic programmes
• Overall responsibility for IT goverance, risk management and compliance, along with ownership of the IT security and business continuity strategy
• Build and manage strong relationships with key business stakeholders
• Negotiate with the manage supplier relationships
• Build and motivate a strong team
• Manage IT cost effectively in the group

Competencies & Skills:-

• A proven record of displaying a combination of a broad strategic IT approach with a strong commercial ability
• Solid financial understanding
• The proven ability to operate at board level, translating business strategy into the IT strategy and ensuring delivery thereof
• Solid experience of delivering and improving infrastructure services
• Strong project delivery capability
• A track record of excellent interpersonal and people management skills
• Proven experience and successful track record in business process management
• Strong efficiency focus and service orientation
• Robust understanding of IT application and infrastructure architecture
• Superior evaluative and problem solving skills
• Excellent influencing and relationship management abilities
• Strong cost consciousness
• Ability to motivate and manage high performance teams to deliver within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects
• Excellent understanding of retail processes or similiar processes in a related industry
