This is a senior permanent level position in Stellenbosch, Cape Town.
Purpose:
Our client requires a Business Development Consultant for the generation and development of new business opportunities. The successful candidate will be a consummate and credible sales professional selling a sophisticated IT service to small and medium sizes businesses in the Greater Cape Town region. This role is focused purely on new business and is suited to people who are ‘sales hungry’ and who can exploit their exceptional sales skills with effective and successful results.
Requirements:
- Bcom, or other appropriate Business Degree or diploma.
- Theoretical knowledge and thorough understanding of the components of the IT platform and how to apply in a single and multi-branch environment.
- Previous work experience:
- 5 years relevant sales and marketing experience of which,
- a minimum of 4 years was spent working in a corporate IT environment with either sales and/or technical focus
- Proven experience in ‘cold calling’ as well as ‘opportunity hunting’ is required.
Duties:
- Effectively execute the business plans and targets (regionally) and develop and qualify leads for all existing and new business services that the company offers from time to time.
- Develop new business and sales opportunities for the company to an agreed quarterly and annual target.
- Manage and maintain adequate sales pipeline, achieve and then strive to exceed the targets set.
- Present the company to potential clients through direct communication, face to face meetings, telephone calls and emails.
- Attend networking and marketing events and perform presentations to audiences in order to market the company and its services.
- Develop, implement and maintain a key account database and customer relationship management program with existing and new business leads with a key focus on new business development and customer relationship management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with new business leads and handover the sales opportunity to the account manager or sales team.
- Work with the marketing department to: develop sales and marketing material to promote the company and its services to prospective clients and the market in general; analyse all competitor activities; highlight marketing opportunities; evaluate promotions and attend all industry events and tradeshows.
- Actively and successfully manage the sales process: lead generation; credentials pitch; asking questions; solutions pitch; negotiation; close and handover to the solutions consultants or technical lead.
- Thoroughly understand the clients’ business objectives including their return on investment objectives.
- Interact with solutions consultant and technical teams when handing over opportunities and ensuring they are fully and correctly briefed.
- Accurately and timeously complete all sales administration including reports and proposals.
