Business Analyst

The incumbent with be responsible to work on  Financial Reporting Systems and Data Management (SAP, BI, BPC etc) Management Information systems development. Monthly Local and International reporting on Subsidiary results and efficiency. 

 

(The expectation is that the individual will have sufficient understanding of Finance and the operations of the “Business” in order to review reports for reasonableness.) 

Education and experience required:

  • BCom / BTech in Cost and Management Accounting (or equivalent) – compulsory
  • A Management Accounting background, (preferably in an IT environment with an emphasis on costing and financial analysis) – recommended
  • Intermediate Excel experience – compulsory
  • SAP experience – compulsory
  • Customer interface experience is recommended
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo a battery of psychometric testing, Excel skills testing. 

Skills and Competencies

  • Knows and understands Management and Financial accounting and financial principles, procedures and terminology.
  • Broad knowledge and  understanding of ICT products and services
  • Good understanding of the local ICT market (Global IT market understanding an advantage)
  • Knows and understands local and international economic variables such as interest rates, exchange rates, inflation, etc. as well as their interaction with each other.
  • Knows and understands business, its key components and their inter-relationships.
  • System experience required. SAP, MS Excel, MS Word and MS Project 
  • The ability to analyse issues, test propositions and identify and connect related and apparently unrelated matters to build and test hypotheses in order to make decisions.
  • Uses different forms of communication in the work environment at all levels of the organisation, in order to get the correct message across.
  • Skills needed to work with people, develop and maintain work relationships, communicate and manage conflict.
  • The ability to use various concepts, principles and methods of presentation.
  • Identifies underlying causes to problems and to advise on alternative solutions
  • The ability to listen to others, seeking their views and understanding their inputs.

Key areas of responsibility

  • Development and maintenance of data repository / warehouse
  • Ensure data accurateness across all financial reporting systems (SAP, BI, BPC)
  • Report generation of financial monthly requirements eg Forecast, Exco report etc
  • Financial reporting to International on monthly and adhoc basis.
  • One point of contact for SAP and other financial system maintenance

 

Description of responsibilities: 

Data consolidation and validation

  • Development and maintain a data repository/warehouse (one source of the truth) with user access in BI / Excel to support company reporting requirements
  • Consolidation and validation of Forecast data in forecast tool as per forecast process and timeliness
  • Ensure data alignment across all financial system structures
  • Ensure data alignment across all financial systems eg SAP, BI, BPC 

 

Reporting

Internal

  • Supporting controlling department with reporting requirements by creating required standard reports, maintaining it and making updated reports available when required.
  • Compile data pack of information required for monthly EXCO report, and automation of this report as far as possible within the available systems.
  • Maintenance of current Excel consolidation file used for reporting company performance wrt forecast and actual and automating this file within the available financial systems.
  • Creation of Reporting Dashboards of identified main KPI’s within Finance and business

External

  • Monthly Flash and month end reporting to International
  • Monthly transfer of data to international forecast tool
  • Consolidation of Production forecasts and bi-weekly submission to Production international

Adhoc

  • Adhoc financial reporting required by local business, Controlling or international 

SAP / Financial system Maintenance

  • Masterdata and structures
    • Maintenance of Masterdata and SAP structures to ensure compliance with international standards.
  • Ebest tables
    • Maintenance of workflow tables to ensure accurate hierarchy of approval and proper flow / approval of shopping carts
  • Budget / Forecast
    • Ensure upload of budget and forecast data into Financial systems
    • Facilitate input into OPEX and CAPEX budget and forecasting processes as it relates to the client
  • One point of contact for Financial system issues
    • Forward system maintenance or other requests to SI and follow up to get resolution
    • Manage OLA agreement with SI 

Business Engagement / Management

  • Support business through data and reporting collection activities, pertaining to performance indicators
